I’m Emine. Former health director, wellness author + wholistic therapist. My weekly Substack MOTHER NOURISH is created to help mums live life on more than the crumbs.

The messy magic of our middle years

WHOLISTIC + REALISTIC NOURISHMENT

A SNAPSHOT: Mid-40s, entering perimenopause, full-time working mum, two wild kids (one pre-teen, one teen) with their own hormonal whirlwinds at play (hold onto your hats!). With a 25-year career in wellbeing, I share the simple habits, systems + choices that have helped me move from regular depletion to daily doses of essential nourishment, and that also support my two growing daughters.

Weekly Mother Nourishment
– Sundays @ 8am + Wednesdays @ 5pm

  • A place to nest + rest. My favourite rituals, nooks, books + ways to replenish + restore, every day, and my ultimate home comforts that help me & my family unwind, replenish + reset, every day.

  • My favourite simple 'mother bowls', monthly tonics, teas + easy boosters that I support myself + my children with, season by season, informed by my studies in Ayurveda + Women's Yoga Therapy.

  • Nature knows best, but I've also learned that when life is busy + time is short, our hardworking bodies appreciate a gentle, helping hand. As a trained holistic skin therapist and former beauty + health director, I am fascinated by the interplay between skin, body, gut + mind, and share the choices we make at home.

  • The choices that spark joy, peace, ease + light. The stuff I try to do for myself, as often as I can, that I've learned radiates out, from a fuller cup, into the lives of those I love.

TWO LETTERS A WEEK:

HOT BUTTERED TOAST FOR LAZY LONG READS

ON SUNDAY MORNINGS, AND YIN + TONIC,

A SINGLE SHOT OF GOODNESS FOR MIDWEEK

REST + RESTORATION

I thought at this point in my motherhood journey, I’d have most things figured out. I thought my kids would be more independent (turns out, bigger kids = bigger worries), that I’d be working less (nope), and I’d have more time to myself (older kids + later bedtimes = bye bye restful evenings).

Parenting two big-hearted, highly sensitive, ND girls is as wild a ride as I could ever have imagined. It’s exhausting, brittling, stretching, testing, heartbreaking… and also joyful, hopeful, wonderful, surprising + heavenly.

And the truth is, I’ve never needed every tool in my box as much as I do now – 15 years after becoming a mum.

As a former health + wellness director, author of five wellbeing books, a qualified holistic therapist + women’s yoga therapist, I started MOTHER NOURISH to combine my love of writing + practical wellbeing, in ways that feel really useful. And to help hold myself + others accountable to their own needs + essential daily nourishment (no excuses).

A rich, wellbeing-infused, Hot Buttered Slice of delicious nourishment in the form of a long-form letter, every Sunday at 8am ♥️

Aptly called HOT BUTTERED TOAST (after children’s author Martin Waddell’s universally comforting cure-all), these letters are my chance to sing about the yummy glimmers of goodness available to me on any given day – from a gentler way to begin my morning to a book I’ve read that has transformed some part of my life. In this weekly letter, my aim is to document and share, honestly, my journey from a perpetual subsister on crumbs + burnt crusts (i.e. no space, time or energy for myself), to someone who increasingly finds ways to feed their own nourishment and wellbeing into their daily life.

I love to share the things I have learned, tried and adopted (and adapted) that REALLY make a difference. From my favourite organic products + skin rituals, whole food supplements + movement practices, to home-based rituals + life-changing books, these are the roots of nourishment, in my own home, with my family, as a full-time working mum of two.

NEW for 2025: YIN + TONIC: A single-shot of goodness, for mid-week + mid-life; every Wednesday, at 5pm ♥️

In YIN + TONIC, I’ll share a small but powerful game-changer every month: something that made a big difference to your holistic wellbeing.

These letters will often suggest a simple reframe – a mindset shift, a tiny habit, or conscious choice – never something you’ll need to invest in or spend money on. They also include beautiful audio + video rest + relaxation practices, including Crystal Sound Baths, Yoga Nidra (which I create + record myself), gentle movement + somatic practices.

They nod to the ways in which we can support + cultivate our slow, restful, restorative, nourishing YIN energy – antidotes to the busy, ever-doing + moving of the modern world.

One of my favourite Yin habits is to keep a couple of cardamom pods in my coat pocket – which I would crush, breathe in + deeply inhale before I entered the house, at the end of a long working day. That shift in mindset, from work-rush-hour-commute, to home, was supported on the doorstep outside… with a deep breath, a deeper exhale, and the scent of cardamom flooding my olfactive senses, grounding me.

Sometimes YIN + TONIC will include something you could make or try at home – a lovely tea, tonic, or treat – that’s wonderfully nourishing, but quick + simple – too. My favourite tonic is to add a teaspoon of dried nettle powder to my cacao for an iron-replenishing ‘hot choc’, that I crave every month.
